IamANT's blog about painting, drawing, ufc, culture, and food
I'm an artist living and working in Atlanta, GA. When I was a little boy I looked up at the sky and saw all of these different shapes. It was a clear blue sky so the shapes weren't clouds, but lines. Ever since that day I see lines and shapes everywhere I look. The lines flow, bend, turn, and come back into one another. This is how I see the world around me and inside of my mind. I follow the lines where ever they are going to take me. I want to take traditional subject matter and compositions, but paint them in a completely non-traditional style. I work mainly in acrylic on tile board with oil based paint markers. I draw and painting subject metter from landscapes to figures, to abstract shapes.
This blog is a merging point for all of my creative endevours, opinions, and thoughts in general.

Drawing character designs for my flash animations |
Last night I drew some new character designs for my animated rants (the first new ones in years). I’m trying to decide between a more realistic look, and a caricatured look, but ultimately I think the final look will be a cross between both styles. One of my ideas for these designs has always been what I call “The Maxx” look. The Maxx was an animated show on MTV in the mid 90s based on a comic book about a hobo who fights crime in the real world and an alternative reality called “The Outback”.

The style of The Maxx comic book and show was a big influence on me with its extremely detailed and minimalist character designs. The animated series used this technique where the character’s body was very detailed but didn’t move and only the mouth, eyes, or hands would move in certain scenes. Ehhh, what the hell… I guess the best approach is a cross between all three styles: realistic, caricatured, and The Maxx.
Here are some more of my character design sketches:
